Election of the Regional Chair - Question on the Ballot

On the November 13th election ballot you will find the following question:

Should the Council of the City of Pickering approve the following resolution?  "That the Government of Ontario make a regulation requiring that the Chair of the Regional Municipality of Durham be elected by general vote"

At Council I voted for the Council resolution to have this question placed on the Pickering ballot.

I believe in the democratic process and the election of our representatives.  I think the Regional Chair should be elected by the residents of Durham.  I beleive most residents share these views. - David Pickles
